Rapper and actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will star in and executive produce a new football-themed heist thriller. The movie is called Free Agents, and Deon Taylor (Fatale, Black and Blue) will direct the film for the film studio Lionsgate.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Free Agents is a “high-concept sports action heist thriller, [which] tells of a group of professional football players who come together to steal from the team owners who are exploiting them.”
The description continues: “The story focuses on a journeyman player who gets his last shot at his dream, but just as he starts to find some on-field success, is lured into a dangerous crime ring with some of his teammates that threatens his dream, his family and his safety.”
50 Cent is lined up to play the leader of this crime ring.
Taylor created the story and wrote the script. Taylor and his partner Roxanne Avent Taylor are producing the movie through their Hidden Empire Film Group. This independent film banner creates movies about Black storytelling.
50 Cent is already in business with Lionsgate, as he is a producer on the TV show Power, which is made by Lionsgate’s Starz division.
